A senior Southend Borough Councillor has annouced he’s to run for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex.
Martin Terry is currently the deputy leader of the town’s Independent group which runs the local authority.
In an exclusive interview, he told Radio Essex that the major plank of his manifesto is to reverse the massive cuts the county’s police force is facing.
He says an increase in the council tax precept would help achieve that and says members of the public would be willing to pay a few pence extra per week.
