Two Essex councils are to work more closely together.
Colchester and Basildon Borough Councils say they’re working together to develop joint services for the delivery of Customer Services.
Both councils have joined forces to explore ways to collaboratively develop and deliver a customer driven, multi-channel contact service for residents and customers, it is expected to be implemented by May 2016.
The joint project will look at customer contact across a range of channels (face to face, online and telephone) and use the combined resources of each council to improve the customer experience and allow people to contact the council in the way best suited to them and their needs.
Both councils plan to eventually share a single IT customer platform and explore the potential for software that could provide seamless access across all council services.
