Tendring District Council is calling for new safety investigations to take place on the A133 bypass between Weeley and Clacton following a string of fatal crashes.
Six people have died on that stretch of the carriageway over the past ten months.
Councillors have asked the Highways Authority to look into the situation as soon as possible.
TDC is also pressing local MPs and the County Councillors to support the call.
The latest crash happened on Monday March 28 just after 5pm when two people died.
