A 15-year-old boy driving while his father was in the passenger seat was among those caught during the latest road policing operation in Clacton.
Officers used automatic number plate recognition technology (ANPR) as part of Operation Surround a Town, a long-running countywide campaign with Essex County Council to increase road safety and detect offenders using the roads.
The teenage boy caught behind the wheel of his father s car was reported to court for driving without a licence or insurance. His 71-year-old father was reported for causing or permitting him to do so. Both are from the Clacton area.
During the operation five vehicles were also seized because their drivers were not insured and 22 vehicles were found not to have valid MOTs.
A total of 34 drivers were dealt with for failing to wear a seatbelt and seven were seen using a mobile phone behind the wheel.
