An 85 year old woman`s been reported for driving offences after she was spotted going the wrong way down the A12 at Kelvedon.
Police were called around 2.30 yesterday afternoon following reports that a car was being driven towards Colchester on the London bound carriageway.
Officers from Chelmsford & Stanway’s Roads Policing Units attended and found the vehicle, a white MG Campen, at Prested Hall.
The driver has been reported for driving offences and has voluntarily surrendered her licence.
Officers drove the woman back to her home in Gosfield.
Sergeant Colin Shead told Radio Essex: “The vehicle was being driven the wrong way down one of the county’s busiest roads. It was a miracle that there wasn’t a collision and that we are not dealing with another fatality.”
