An investigation’s found contractors carrying out building work on a roof was to blame for yesterday’s major fire at a Southend school.
A two storey block at the Cecil Jones Academy has been badly damaged.
But, the school says it will be open for pupils to collect their GCSE results tomorrow.
The Borough Council also says it’s offering support.
At it’s height, a dozen appliances were at the scene on Eastern Avenue.
Firefighters discovered the roof alight and the flames had spread to a classroom.
Smoke was also drifting across the town.
