The Service’s Control teams and firefighters across Essex dealt with over 70 incidents between 5pm-11pm last night.
The majority of the calls turned out to be false alarms including many bonfire burning under control. Crews have also have dealt with a number of small fires in the open, many of which have been recorded as deliberate. Below are the incidents of note from this evening.

21:35hrs | Kitchen fire caused by cooking left unattended
Two fire engines from Basildon Fire Station responded to a call reporting a fire in a house in Braybrooke, Basildon. Firefighters extinguished the fire which was located in the kitchen which was caused by cooking left unattended on the hob. The occupant had left cooking unattended and fallen asleep. The properties smoke alarms sounded which alerted the neighbours, who called 999 and managed to alert the resident. The kitchen has been left badly damaged by the fire. Incident like this show how important it is to never leave cooking unattended.
22:08hrs | Shed fire spreads to garage
Two fire engines from Canvey Fire Station responded to a call reporting a shed fire in Limburger Way, Canvey. Crews reported the shed was completely destroyed and the fire had spread to a detached garage. Crews extinguished the fire at 22:41hrs.
