Lesley Salter, Executive Cllr for Health and Ault Social Care, says: “We are committed to providing excellent adult social care services and protecting frontline services. We must do this whilst facing up to unprecedented financial pressures and increasing demands for our services. We are no longer in a world where we can just stand still, so we must be ambitious and bold.
“Creating a Local Authority Trading Company (LATC) for Adult Social Care services in Southend and progressing plans for new care facilities are vital and I am very pleased that we are now working towards making these appointments.
“Southend Care will be managed by a Board of Directors which will be responsible to the Council and the role of the Chair will be key in leading the move of previously run local authority adult care services into a sustainable, profit making local authority trading company
“The Chair and the Board will also be responsible and accountable for the success of the business and ensuring that the most vulnerable local people in our community get the services they need and deserve.”
