A series of events will help ambitious young people kick start their careers as part of Apprenticeship Week next week.
These events include the chance for apprentices to explore opportunities with Essex businesses at job fairs; creating better links between Essex employers and the county’s secondary schools and a huge apprenticeship event taking place at Anglia Ruskin University.
Essex County Council’s Adult Community Learning service has already helped thousands of young people get their foot on the first rung of the career ladder by taking advantage of the opportunities an apprenticeship presents. Just last year more than 11,000 people in Essex started an apprenticeship.
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth; Infrastructure and Partnerships, said: “The county is fast becoming a hub for cutting edge businesses and for a great many of these companies, apprentices are their lifeblood.
“We are working hard to make sure that young people can support the growth of these companies by joining them as apprentices and businesses can tap into the talented and hard-working pool of young people Essex has to offer.
“National Apprenticeship Week is a fantastic opportunity for us to promote apprenticeships to young people and businesses alike.”
