A man has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Hullbridge.
A 50-year-old man, from Southend, was arrested in Berkshire this morning, Thursday, March 23, on suspicion of murder, robbery and possession of a firearm. He is currently in custody awaiting questioning.
The arrest follows a robbery in The Drive at about 11.00pm on Sunday, March 19, during which one of the victims was pushed and fell heavily onto a low level wall, causing a serious brain injury.
The 57-year-old man sadly died in hospital on Tuesday, March 21. Police can now identify this man as Timothy Smith, 57, of Hullbridge.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw a Ford transit van in or near Ferry Road, or two men at or near a bus stop on Ferry Road in Hullbridge on Sunday March 19 between 7.00pm and 11.00pm to get in touch.
