A drug dealer found with more than 150 wraps of the Class A drugs Crack Cocaine and Heroin has been jailed for two and a half years.
Officers were on patrol in the Pittmans Field area of Harlow on Friday February 17 this year when they spotted 23-year-old Desire Johnson with a group of people, including known drug users.
Spotting the officers, Johnson left the group and began walking away. She was stopped and questioned by the officers, during which she admitted supplying drugs to the group.
Johnson was arrested and taken to a property in Pittmans Field where she had been in the moments leading up to her arrest. A search of the house uncovered 154 wraps of Class A drugs in a bag belonging to Johnson.
John son, who is from the West Midlands, was charged and admitted two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs when she appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court this Monday. She received a 30-month jail term.
Following the sentencing Det Con Jack Etheridge of Essex Police’s West Operation Raptor team said: “This case demonstrates how well Essex Police officers know their local area.
“The officers patrolling instantly recognised the local drug users gathered with Johnson and from her subsequent behaviour, in trying to evade our officers, realised she was clearly up to no good.
“She was latterly found with a significant amount of Class A drugs which we have now successfully prevented reaching the streets of our community.
“I hope this sentence serves as a warning to others involved in the supply of illegal drugs in our county that it is only a matter of time before we catch up with them.”
Essex Police set up Operation Raptor teams in the North, South and West of the county to target those involved in drug and gang-related crime.
