The Council’s Brentwood Community Fund 2017 is now open for applications for a share of £16,300.
Individuals, groups and organisations can apply for grants of up to £2000 for causes and projects that will improve the quality of life for local people and tackle the issues that they think are important.
The fund, which is in its fifth year, will run until 29th September. The bids will be assessed and reported to Committee in December, when a decision on the allocation of funding will be made.
Last year the Council received 24 applications for over £40,000 of funding for community projects. Successful recipients included HYPE Youth Café, who received set up funds for the new youth café facility at the Hermit centre on Shenfield Road, Brentwood Mavericks Rugby Club, who received support for new goal posts at the Warley pitch, and Alfie James Productions, who will be developing an inclusive mental health performance project at Brentwood Theatre.
Brentwood Borough Council’s Chair of the Community, Health and Leisure Committee, Councillor Keith Parker, said: “This is an opportunity for local residents, groups or organisations to get a bit of extra financial help they may need with their projects.
We want to support those who make a positive contribution to the lives of people in Brentwood.”
Previous applicants may apply if they are proposing a new project, but priority will be given to those who have not received any previous funding from the Community Fund or the Localism Share Fund. Projects must benefit Brentwood communities, be delivered in the Borough and they should demonstrate volunteer or community involvement.
They should also be able to show they are sustainable long term and firmly support the community-based priorities in the Council’s Vision for Brentwood 2016-2019, under the key themes of:
•Environment and Housing Management
•Community and Health
Details on the expected outcomes for the aforementioned priorities, and all information, including the application guidance can be downloaded from the Council’s website from 3rd April 2017 at www.brentwood.gov.uk/funding. The application process is via an online form and the link can also be found on this web page.
