Colchester`s game with Leyton Orient in League Two yesterday was postponed for nearly two hours after fans occupied the pitch.
The U`s eventually won the match 3-1 after home fans protesting against Orient owner Francesco Becchetti got onto the pitch in the 85th minute.
The final eight minutes was played behind closed doors and the win moves Colchester up to 10th, a point adrift of the play-off places with one match remaining.
Braintree have been relegated to the National League South.
The Iron lost 2-0 at Aldershot.
They needed to win and hope other results went their way.
In the National League South Chelmsford drew 1-1 at Hungerford and Concord lost 1-0 at Hampton and Richmond.
Meanwhile it’s judgement day for Southend.
The Blues must better Millwall’s result to qualify for the League One play offs – Phil Brown’s side are at home to Bury.
Elsewhere an Essex side will be promoted to the Ryman Premier League this afternoon – Maldon and Tiptree play Thurrock in the North Division Play Off Final.
