UKIP’s Essex County Council presence has been wiped out in the local elections – with the party losing all nine existing seats.
The Conservatives were the big winners – increasing their majority at County Hall from 42 to 56, including significant swings from Labour in Harlow.
Labour are down three seats to a total of six – The Lib Dems lost two and now hold seven.
The Canvey Island Independent Party maintained both of their seats – while Independents also won in Basildon and Clacton – as well as the Independent Loughton Residents Association.
The Green Party has one seat – in Witham.
