Southend United have confirmed defender John White has signed a one-year contract extension at the club.
The defender has been at Roots Hall since 2013 when he became Phil Brown’s first signing as Southend Manager.
And White, who has made 151 appearances for Blues, is happy to have committed his future to Blues.
“It’s nice to get it done,” he said. “It’s been spoken about for a little while now but contracts take a long time to get sorted and finalised.
“We obviously had a lot going on towards the end of the season so it was difficult to get things moving when we had other things to concentrate on.
“I’m delighted now that it’s done and I can look forward to the season ahead.”
White captained Blues to promotion to Sky Bet League One in 2015 and he hopes to be part of more success next season.
“I know the ambition of the club, the manager and the players here,” White added.
“With how close we got last season it was a no-brainer that we’re going to be looking to do a bit better from the start of the season this time to give ourselves the best chance of getting promotion.
“It’s a new season. We know where we want to go already and we said that straight after the last game of the season when it didn’t quite happen.
“If we can make a good start right from the beginning of the season then we’ll give ourselves the best chance to get that promotion.”
