Today marks Anti-Slavery Day and Essex Police is taking part by raising awareness of human trafficking and modern slavery.
The campaign #BeAVoice is helping residents to know what they need to look out for and who they can report to.
It follows a recent warrant at an address in Braintree.
Anti-Slavery Partnership Coordinator for Essex and Kent Police Cristina Gavrilovic says they acted based on intelligence police received.
“A multi-agency approach took place, we visited the particular location, spoke with all the occupants and were really happy with the conditions that they were found in – their employment conditions, housing conditions and we raised awareness on workers rights.”
Reporter Georgina Baxter recently interviewed Cristina about the campaign and the issue of human trafficking and modern slavery in general.
