Essex Police has been praised for its effectiveness in an inspection.
Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary has rated the county’s force as good in four areas including preventing crime and tackling anti-social behaviour and protecting vulnerable people.
The overall report included the following ratings:
Graded ‘Good’ at preventing crime and tackling anti-social behaviour;
Graded ‘Good’ at investigating crime and reducing reoffending;
Graded ‘Good’ at protecting vulnerable people, and;
Graded ‘Good’ at tackling serious and organised crime
The report also showed that:
Essex experiences less crime than average in England and Wales
The reduction in recorded anti-social behaviour incidents in Essex is twice the national average
Essex has more domestic abuse incidents than the national average but Essex Police arrests more people per 100 domestic abuse incidents than most other forces
