Baliffs will be called into evict a group of travellers camped on land near Clacton if they don’t leave by 1pm today (Thursday).
Tendring District Council, which owns the land in Jaywick, successfully applied for a summons at Colchester Magistrates Court yesterday.
The travellers failed to repsond to a Direction to Leave Order issued by the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit on Monday.
The Travellers originally arrived on the land last Thursday and remained over the weekend.
Paul Honeywood, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Housing, told Radio Essex that the Council has been working with ECTU to secure the clearance of the site.
