With temperatures across Essex set to rise into the 30s later, there’s a call for staff to be allowed to dress down for work.
The TUC group of unions says jackets and ties should be put to the side for the day, in exchange for vest tops and shorts.
They also believe employees should be given regular breaks and supplied with cool drinks.
Meanwhile, pet owners are being urged to take care of their animals in today’s soaring temperatures.
Animal protection organisation PETA suggests keeping dogs indoors and sticking to only gentle exercise.
It says if you spot a dog in a locked car, you should call the police or remove the animal with witnesses around.
