People in Essex are being offered the chance to see a unique view of the Colne River today as part of an open day at the Colne Barrier in Wivenhoe.
Local residents will be allowed to walk out onto the structure and Environment Agency staff will be on hand to answer questions.
The barrier was built in 1992 to prevent flooding in Wivenhoe and Colchester, and is typically closed almost 40 times each year.
The barrier will be open from 10am to 3pm.
