Five people were arrested during the third day of Essex Police’s pre-Christmas crime blitz in Chelmsford.
Officers conducted high visibility patrols in the Melbourne and Great Baddow areas as well as patrols in Central Park, along the Bunny Walk and in the Wriittle Road and Cherry Garden Road areas.
Officers, and colleagues from Essex County Council, also handed out leaflets to taxi drivers regarding intimidation they have been receiving.
– A 33 year-old woman from Chelmsford who was charged for theft. She is due to appear in court on January 10, 2017.
– A 29 year-old man from Chelmsford who was arrested on suspicion of theft. He was later released without charge.
– Three people were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.
The activity took place on the third day of a two week pre-Christmas crime blitz where officers are focused on a number of key crime areas such as executing search and arrest warrants, additional patrols in the city centre and surrounding rural areas, and an operation targeting safety in the night time economy.
