A special ceremony will take place today on a project to build a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging centre at Colchester General Hospital.
The two-storey development will include brand-new equipment for three specialised diagnostic services and expects to see its first patients in spring 2018.
Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust is working on the development in partnership with Alliance Medical Ltd, which provides the hospital’s current MRI and PET-CT service.
This afternoon Trust Chair David White and Russell Trenter, Regional Managing Director of Alliance Medical, will take part in a special ceremony.
They will be assisted by Sarah Warner, MRI Manager at Colchester General Hospital, and Cathy Harwood, Chief Nuclear Medicine Technician, who is currently based at Essex County Hospital but who will relocate to the Turner Road site when the diagnostic imaging centre is complete.
Mr White said: “Modern diagnostic imaging services are critical for the Trust to deliver timely high quality care to our patients.
“This development will significantly improve facilities in Colchester for the three key services.
“By working innovatively with Alliance Medical, we have been able to develop our plans for a state-of-the-art centre that will open to patients in spring 2018.”
