Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Rettendon.
Police and the ambulance service were called to reports of a disturbance at an address in East Hanningfield Road, Rettendon Common, just before midnight on Saturday March 11.
A 19-year-old man was found seriously injured and was given emergency treatment at the scene but died.
A post mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of his death was a single stab wound to his neck.
Five men were arrested on suspicion of murder. Three of the men, aged 24, 30 and 42, have been released without charge and face no further action.
Magistrates yesterday (Monday March 13) granted officers an extension for two men aged 21 and 37 to remain in custody for a further 36 hours for questioning.
