Staff on one of Essex’s train operators are set to strike in a row over passenger safety levels.
The RMT union has confirmed members have voted overwhelmingly to walk out on Greater Anglia becuase of the potential extension of Driver Only Operation.
Guards voted for action by a level of nine to one – drivers agreed at a rate of two to one.
The union says Abellio – which runs the service – has failed to provide assurances for the future – leaving them with no choice but to strike.
Executives will now decide on next steps.
