Essex author Mel McGrath chatted with Radio Essex about her psychological thriller Give Me The Child.
To give you an idea of what the story is about, without giving too much away – Imagine “the doorbell goes in the middle of the night, you go downstairs with your husband of twelve years and there’s a policeman and a social worker at the door, and there’s an 11-year-old child who is saying she is your husband’s daughter.”
Mel spent much of her childhood in Basildon “when it was still a really new town” and now lives in Hackney, London, which is one of the reasons she incorporated the London Riots in her story. The riots also tie in with one of her main topics, which explores psychology, predominantly in children.
“When you let a child into your house. You really don’t know what you’re in for.”
