Research has revealed Southend and Thurrock are struggling to build the expected amount of new housing needed in the area.
The Shared Data Unit has investigated how housing compares to Government targets to cope with demand across the country – based on ten-years’ worth of stats.
The two Essex unitary authorities are supplying less than 30 percent of levels Westminster thinks are needed.
Rochford, Brentwood, Castle Point and Basildon are all also hitting less than 50 percent of the target.
At 76% – Colchester has the best record in the county.
