A teenage burglar who targeted a home in Leigh has escaped prison – after pledging to turn his life around.
Louis Harris – who’s from Basildon – forced his way into a woman’s property on Leighville Grove in April – taking a mobile phone and bag.
He then tried and failed to sell the phone – and was arrested the following week.
Harris formally apologised to his victim in court – and this was accepted by the woman.
The Judge has described her as the most decent woman the court had ever seen.
Harris has been handed a two year sentence – suspended for 18 months.
