My first week of gym life is complete, and already exercise is really punishing me.
I started the week with a gym induction with Sophie, the Assistant Manager, and got shown all the equipment and how it works. You would be amazed at how many different things work different muscles.
After the induction I had agreed to do a PT session with Sophie so we could gauge exactly how unfit I was. We started with some different bits in the PureGym Maldon functional area.
We used some ladders, some big medicine balls filled with sand and one of those things you always see rugby and American football players use when they push a big sledge down some turf.
It was all going great, until I felt really hot all of a sudden and began to get that ringing sound you get just before you pass out.
Luckily, the guys at PureGym Maldon had a spare banana and some cold water. I think my fitness levels were certainly lower than I had expected, and probably a bit of a shock to Sophie too.
Since my induction I have been consistently in the gym three days a week, and have managed to find where my fitness levels sit and exactly how hard I can actually push.
So far living the fit life has really been a kick in the teeth, as I got a parking fine from the retail park owners through the post because I had parked a whole thirteen minutes over the free limit. I had gone to work in Costa after the gym.
C'mon exercise, give me a break...
