Festive Fun in Braintree this Christmas!
From the annual Christmas light switch on to street markets, a free elf trail and a chance to meet Santa, there’s lots going on in Braintree this festive season.
Join our very own Chris and Abbie from Hit Music Breakfast, plus special guests, to celebrate the start of the Christmas and switch on the Braintree Christmas lights on Saturday 17th November. They’ll be plenty of festive family fun, including live entertainment from local performers, face-painting, a local produce and craft market in Braintree Town Hall, craft activities in Braintree Museum and a free elf trail. The light switch on will take place at 5:30pm.
Whilst the entertainment is going on from 12pm until 5:45pm, you’ll be able to browse our Christmas themed street market which will see a variety of gourmet food, drink, gift, home ware and arts and craft stalls across the town centre. You can view full details about the Christmas street market here.
A FREE elf trail will also launch on the 17th November, where elf-hunters can go on a journey around Braintree town centre to find elves hiding in shops and businesses window displays. Participants will get a free trail map, available at Braintree Town Hall or can be downloaded online at www.braintree.gov.uk/elftrail and receive a certificate of thanks from Father Christmas. They’ll also be entered into a prize draw to win a festive hamper in time for Christmas!
The George Yard Shopping Centre switch on will be just before at 5pm, along with a Santa’s Grotto throughout the day. A parade will take place between both light switch on events across the town.
We hope to see you there! Full details about all events and activities can be found at www.braintree.gov.uk/christmas.
