Labour candidate for Essex withdraws after being anti-Semitism accusation

A Labour election candidate for Essex has withdrawn after being accused of making an anti-Semitic remark.

Gideon Bull, who was standing in Clacton, denies calling a Jewish councillor "Shylock" but admits using the term.

He says he apologised immediately after being told the word was offensive.

Labour has been dogged by claims of anti-Semitism.

Shadow Attorney General Shami Chakrabarti admits a report she wrote about it in 2016 got sidelined.
