Southend seafront set to receive anti-terror safety measures

New anti-terror safety measures are to be installed on Southend’s seafronts.

The new security measures will see a number of bollards and concrete balls placed along the shared space area on Marine Parade to prevent vehicles from mounting the curb and hitting pedestrians

Councillor Martin Terry, who oversees community safety, said the council was advised to introduce the counter terrorism measures as a response to the 2016 terror attack in Nice, France, which saw a cargo truck drive into a crown of people resulting in the death of 86 people.
