Jack Burke, Radio Essex’s afternoon presenter, and Dan Bichener, the station’s Head of News, are embarking on an extraordinary journey, and they need your support! In partnership with Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, Jack and Dan have accepted the challenge to cycle from the Radio Essex HQ in Southend to the North Weald Airfield in Epping. With only one week to train for this 50-mile ride, their determination and commitment to this vital cause are truly inspiring.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) provides critical, life-saving services across Essex and Hertfordshire. As a charity, they rely on public donations to keep their helicopters flying and their highly skilled teams operational. Jack Burke

Jack, Radio Essex’s afternoon presenter, is a passionate advocate for community causes. Despite the short training period, he’s ready to give it his all, balancing his radio duties with intense cycling sessions to prepare for this challenge.

Dan Bichener

Dan, the dedicated newsreader at Radio Essex, shares the same commitment. Known for his calm presence on air and his dedication to making a difference, Dan is excited to push his limits for a cause he deeply believes in, even with only a week to train.

The Route

The ride will kick off at Radio Essex HQ in Southend and wind through scenic routes to the North Weald Airfield in Epping. This route is both beautiful and challenging, perfect for this heroic endeavour.
