Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex move children to new school over 'security concerns'

Prince Harry and Meghan have moved their children to a new school just days after the start of term due to security concerns, Sky News understands.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, started school last week after their move from the US last month.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess said: "The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family's security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.

"The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.

"This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there."

Sky News understands that there was heavy traffic on the school run, and that the distance travelled put pressure on the Sussexes' security team.

There is also believed to have been an incident that saw the couple's convoy of vehicles disrupted.

The location of the family's new home and details of the children's school have been kept private - but Meghan did share a glimpse at the Sussexes' new life in the UK over the weekend.

In a video post on Instagram, Harry, his wife and their two children could be seen enjoying a countryside walk, jumping in puddles, cycling and fishing.

The couple's decision to return to the UK, six years after they quit the Royal Family, came as a shock to many.

Until last month, Harry had returned only a handful of times since leaving, mostly without Meghan and their children.

The King was informed of the Sussexes' plan to return on a long-term basis just days before it became public.

Harry and Meghan are not living in a royal residence and remain non-working royals.

The Duke's security is currently being reviewed by a government committee, as a long-running battle over the decision to strip the Sussexes of automatic police protection rumbles on.

Harry is currently waiting to hear from the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which is responsible for making decisions about royal security.

The Risk Management Board is conducting a threat assessment and Ravec is expected to decide on whether the Sussexes should be entitled to taxpayer-funded security now they live in the UK.

Sky News also understands that Meghan's security is getting its first government-backed review since the couple left the UK.
